First Impressions

Batman : Arkham Origins for Xbox 360 and PS3 released on 25th October. As expected, Batman fans flocked game stores in huge numbers. This latest instalment in the Batman game series features a prequel story to Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. The superhero is under threat. Large numbers of assassins have been hired to kill Batman. Will you manage to foil Black Mask\’s evil plan? I certainly tried.

The game comes with all the mode that you would expect. The single match feature allows you to take an opponent ˜One on One\’. Under that option, you can play a Normal match, Hell in a Cell, I Quit, Iron Man, Ladder and much more. RAW, Smack Down, NXT and many more arenas are available. This game gives you so many options, it will keep you glued to your console and screen.

W2K14 gets 144 superstars to your living room. Yes, 144. Most of the yesteryear legends are included. WWE 2K14 features a new single player campaign called The 30 Years of WrestleMania, a nostalgic gameplay mode that recre – ates nearly three decades of WWE history, including more than 45 matches, classic WWE footage and many legendary characters. Like Legends of WrestleMania and WWE ˜13, the campaign revolves around historical stories rather than origi – nal ones. The mode features a distinct roster of wrestlers and alternate gimmicks, who wrestled at WrestleMania. In Wres – tleMania mode, matches have primary objectives, required to beat the game, and bonus historical objectives, which result in recreated WrestleMania moments. Sometimes the player must follow a guided sequence of inputs, rather than freely control the character. This is undoubtedly, the biggest talking point of WWE 2K14.

The gameplay of WWE 2K14 shows huge improvement over WWE\’ 13. The movement of the players is fluid. A superstar can accelerate into a run instead of taking pace from the standing position to the full speed which is instantaneous. The strikes are faster. The game has a much more realistic feel. New motions, such as adjusting wristbands or motioning for opponents to get up, are added. The nearfall system too has been improved, with more two counts to give the match a more dramatic feel. Also new to this game is players run ani – mations which are unique to what size they are, wrestlers like Andre the Giant and Big Show now take substantially longer than the likes of Sin Cara and Rey Mysterio.

Undertaker has been one of my favourite superstars. So, this feature was well received by me. As a tribute to UnderTaker\’s undefeated 21-0 WrestleMania winning streak, the game has added ˜The Streak\’ mode. In the mode, the player has the option to defend the streak as the Undertaker, battling wave after wave of opponent. However, the player also has the ability to attempt to break it, playing as all superstars who faced the Undertaker at Wrestle Mania. In attempting to beat the Undertaker, however, the difficulty is amplified to a level much higher than any point available in any other mode of any WWE wrestling video game.

The WWE Universe mode allows you to completely customise your own ˜universe\’. Create modes are also here with new items and features to use to create superstars, entrances, events, titles the freedom is amazing. This will soak up a lot of your time as it is extremely enjoyable.WWE 2k14 is the best looking wrestling game to date, every superstar look ex – cellently detailed and the physics of hair and entrance cloaks and clothing flow realistically. Even close up, facial expres – sions are impressively all there. No WWE match is complete without Jerry Lawler\’s and JR\’s commentary and this game provides that.

The WWE 2K14 is one of the most enter – taining games that I\’ve ever played. The game offers so much variety. Hats off to Yuke\’s & Visual Concepts and 2K. The graphics, movements, the players looks, everything adds so much reality to this game. Someone who follows WWE close – ly or has bought the previous versions of the game, simply can\’t afford to miss out on this one.
