It all eventually began in the 2000 BCE when humans wanted to measure time and since then technology and innovation have only changed substantially over the period. From hourglasses to pocket watches, to wristwatches till having it in our smartphones as a luxury we have come a long way. Today when you see watches are much more than just a device to tell us the time but rather an accessory in our wrists that has a luxury aspect attached to it and undoubtedly left has us spoilt for choice. It was 50 years from now that mankind stepped into the moon and everything changed since then.
And to celebrate these years Johnson Watch Co. presented the marking of the golden anniversary of Omega watch and its success on the Moon landing. The Speedmaster is one of Omega’s most iconic time having been part of all the six moon landings. The watch includes a 42 mm case with stainless steel and polished an 18k Moonshine gold bezel. The bezel gives it an exquisite A unique hour marker is positioned at 11 o’clock, and there is a distinctive 9 o’clock subdial in 18K Moonshine Gold with a laser-engraved image of Buzz Aldrin climbing down onto the lunar surface. The NAIAD LOCK case back reveals numerous engravings, while a laser-engraved astronaut’s footprint is positioned on a medallion under the sapphire crystal.
The Gold-plated lettering includes a quote. The watch is presented on a polished-brushed metallic bracelet and comes with an additional Velcro strap with black-coated cork. Inside, it is powered by the OMEGA Master Chronometer Calibre 3861. This Omega Speedmaster Professional “Moonwatch” highlights a dark dial secured by a hesalite precious stone and graced by a little second sub-dial, with a 30-minute recorder and 12-hour recorder alongside a focal chronograph hand.
The dark bezel, with its tachymetric scale, is mounted on a 42 mm treated steel case and introduced on a coordinating armlet. At the core of this chronograph is Omega’s mechanical bore 1861, the amazing manual-winding development worn on the Moon. This timepiece is offered with an extraordinary Moonwatch introduction box that contains a “NATO” strap, a tie for space travelers, an instrument to change the arm and a book featuring Speedmaster’s undertakings.
