Price: Rs 29,990
The WH-1000XM3 is the Sony’s newest addition to its WH-1000 series, priced at an attractive price of ₹29,990. In fact, Sony has done everything right with WH-1000XM3. It is a well-made headphone that offers a comfortable fit during long sessions. The ear cups can be folded into the headband. This reduces headphones size so that it can easily fit inside a bag. This also comes with a carrying case that is made from high-quality materials. The case provides extra protection to the headphones against scratches and minor impacts, which are quite common when taking these while travelling.
The headphone ear cups feature soft ear cushion and it feels really good. The body of the WH-1000XM3 has artificial leather upholstery for a premium touch. There is a type-C port for charging, audio port, power and noise cancellation button. The right ear cup is touch-sensitive. A double tap will play or pause the music track, Swiping up and down can increase and decrease the volume. Horizontal swiping can switch to the next track or previous track. If you press and hold you invoke Google Assistant or Siri, depending on the OS. The right ear cup has more of a textured, this makes gesture control much more accurate on the WH-1000XM3.
The Sony WH-1000XM3 has a very balanced sound output and covers the entire spectrum bass which works really well with most genres of music. The highs are emphasized and sound great with a lot of clarity and detail, especially on the upper registers. The WH-1000XM3’s active noise cancelling is one of the best in the market today. With the mode activated, a significant amount of outside noise is blocked, allowing you to really enjoy your music with minimal distractions. Sony claims the internal battery can last up to 30 hours when listening to music wirelessly with noise cancelling activated and the number goes up to 40 hours in wired mode with noise cancelling activated. I didn’t test that claim in a scientific way but my WH-1000XM3 played music wirelessly for a total of 27 hours on a single charge.
Overall, I’m highly impressed with the sound quality, active noise cancellation and the touch gesture control this WH-1000XM3 has to offer. However, it comes with a huge price tag of Rs.29,990 which makes it least exciting but if you’re an audiophile then it is definitely worth the investment.
