REVIEW: Transcend’s MP350

Like MP3 players, most notably like the iPod. Unfortunately, the Transcend MP350 with its small 1″ digital display and really hard to press rubbery buttons, isn’t the same. The earphones provided with the device reminded me of the cheap quality earphones you normally get with cheap feature phones, but even if I replaced them with some good quality earphones, the experience wasn’t that great. On the plus side, the minimalistic UI is simple to use and navigate, but could’ve been better with feather-touch buttons and knobs. It doesn’t help that the volume rocker and next/prev button are identical but on either side of the display. It’s confusing and off-putting, especially since this has been positioned as a workout companion – with some neat features for the fitness freaks too.

  • 8 GB Memory
  • MP3 Player
  • 1 inch Display
  • 12 hrs Music Playback Time
  • FM Radio
  • 12 hrs Audio Playback

At the asking price of just above 2.5K INR, the Transcend MP350 has only good build quality and a spacious 8GB of memory to like. The sound quality is good, but not great – and the supplied earphones are just bad. With improvements needed in almost 70% of the device (inside and out) there are many better options out there, even though some might be slightly more expensive.

The Techy Rating: 2.5 / 5
