The AI Cube from Huawei is the new entrant to the smart speakers market and was launched at IFA 2018 in that is ongoing at Berlin. Unlike the Google Home and Amazon Echo smart speakers, the AI Cube is capable of making calls with its built-in SIM slot.
The cylindrical smart speaker looks like a combination of the Google Home speaker and Alexa devices. The AI Cube is expected to launch in European markets first and currently supports 3 languages: English, German and French.
With Amazon’s Alexa virtual assistant added to the AI Cube smart speaker, users can expect to control their IoT devices, listen to their favourite songs and get weather and traffic updates. The top of the AI Cube speaker looks similar to Echo speakers, with buttons for voice commands and volume and the circular blue lights around the rim.
The smart speaker market in India is still at its nascent stage. Even the tech giant like Google is yet to make headway with sales of its Google Home smart speakers.
