AI Liege – Huawei Honor V10 Review
Honor has been on a launch spree in the Indian market off late and now the Chinese smartphone giant has launched its latest flagship offering- the View 10. It competes head-on with the hot-selling OnePlus 5T, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 and we have been playing around with the device for a while now. Here are our first impressions-
How does it look like?
As soon as you take it out of the box, the first thing that you’ll notice that how sleek the phone feels. Our test unit came in Navy blue color which looks pretty neat just like the Honor 7X and feels premium when you hold it in your hand. Move over to the front and you’ll realise that how slim the bezels have become in comparison to the Honor 8 Pro. It sports a 5.99-inch display in an 18:9 aspect ratio but you can still find slim bezels on the top and bottom, especially when you look at it next to the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 and the OnePlus 5T.
How does it perform?
Let’s start with the good bits first- it comes with Android Oreo out of the box unlike its direct competitors- the one OnePlus 5T & the Mi Mix 2. Powering the V10 is a Huawei’s 2.36GHz Kirin 970 processor which also powers Huawei Mate 10. We only get the 6GB+128GB variant in India and the storage in all variants is expandable up to 256GB through hybrid dual-SIM configuration where second SIM slot doubles as a MicroSD card holder. 6 gigs of RAM means that you can run as many apps as you want simultaneously. The V10 sports a 3750 mAh non-removable battery with fast charging support. The Emotion UI (EMUI) can take a while to get used to and Android loyalists will still find the 5T’s Stock Android more user-friendly.
The dual-camera setup at the rear is one of the highlights of the phone. There is a 16MP and 20MP RGB and Monochrome set up and with its wide virtual aperture, which can shoot in a range of F/.9 to F/16. On the front, there is a 13MP camera which can also be used for the Face Unlock feature and you can also play around with some face emoticons just like the iPhone X. We clicked some images from the Honor V10 and the OnePlus 5T back to back and the V10’s camera definitely came out on top. You can check out the samples on our website- www.thetechy.com. All said and done, the V10 is definitely the best camera phone in its category!
The V10 is a great overall package and stands out with its especially with it’s brilliant dual-camera setup and a great battery backup!
