If you haven’t heard of the brand – AVITA, it is a Hong Kong-based company Nexstgo launched Avita range of laptops targeting students and young professionals who wanted functionality in good-looking devices. We received a laptop from the extensive AVITA Liber range of laptops.
HOW DOES IT FEEL?
The AVITA confirms how far Ultrabooks have come in recent years. Though the laptop is dealing with extremely tight dimensions and lightweight construction, it still manages to pack great hardware specifications. Speaking of ports, there is one micro-SD Card slot, HDMI, USB Type-C port, 2x USB and 3.5mm headphone jack. The laptop has a small little cut out at the bottom like MacBook and other laptops to make it easier to open. The Liber features two speakers at the bottom. While the output isn’t the loudest, it’s quite good and ensures that sound doesn’t distort even at full volume. The keyboard is compact fitting inside the 14-inch chassis. Typing on the laptop is a pleasant experience and I was able to type at my normal speeds in almost no time. The Function keys double up for controlling screen brightness, volume, etc. The trackpad below the keyboard is really nice and it’s very responsive to track finger gestures. There is a fingerprint sensor on the top left side of the laptop for quick login and flawless security. The fingerprint is fast and login to windows within a second. Talking about the display, Avita laptop has a thin bezel on all the sides giving it a compact look. The Avita is slimmer than most of the laptop out there in the market. It is 15 inches thick and weighs 1.35kg, lighter than the 13.3-inch MacBook Pro.
HOW IS THE PERFORMANCE?
Avita squeezes in an 8th-generation Coffee Lake dual-core i3-8130U processor clocked at 2.2GHz and backs it up with 8GB of DDR4 RAM. Despite the size of this ultrabook, the i5 8th generation, which consumes max 15 watts. It’s the same as you’d find in much thicker laptops. The new Intel Core i3 is fast and perform every task with ease, even multi-tasking are handled smoothly by Avita which was quite surprising considering the size of the laptop. Read and Write speed is also better because it packed with faster 120GB of M.2 SSD, that means storing data and opening large files are faster on Avita. The laptop does have an Intel UHD Graphics 620, which is capable of handling the basic graphics intensive task. However, this laptop is not capable of running any high-end games due to discrete graphics. There’s a 50 W battery inside the Avita Liber and that’s not bad.
I’m impressed that Avita with its first attempt came this close to perfection. Thanks to its all-magnesium design, this ultrabook is lightweight, compact and bright fresh colour design – making it very useful for the young generation. Don’t forget this ultrabook performs well, offers good battery life and packs a great keyboard and trackpad.
