Xiaomi is known for offering metal back even for their budget smartphone. But with the Poco F1, Xiaomi went ahead with a polycarbonate body. The design of the device doesn’t excite much due to its thickness and polycarbonate body. The body does decrease the weight, but it feels cheap on hold and use. We have received the top-end variant of the Poco F1 that does have a carbon-fibre finish, but it still doesn’t give it a premium feel. But because of the plastic body, the device does not attract fingerprints on the back similar to glass back device.
Well, this is the part were Poco F1 excels. The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with the liquid cooling system. With the powerful chipset and 8GB of RAM, the device does perform smoothly without any lag or shutter. I installed various games like PUBG and Dead Trigger 2, both of them work pretty well even in high-end settings. Playing games doesn’t really heat up the device, all thanks to its Liquid Cooling technology and also the plastic back, which dissipates less heat.
After a few weeks of usage, the PUBG does close down automatically without any feedback. There are a lot of games like Asphalt 9 which doesn’t support Poco F1. The fixed is coming soon via software update.
Poco F1 touts improvements in camera sensor as well. It has Dual rear cameras – 12MP and 5MP. The main sensor has an aperture of f1.9, large 1.4μm pixels and Dual Pixel Autofocus. The second sensor is a depth sensor for portrait shots and after taking many portrait shots, we are quite impressed. Taking pictures using with a dual rear camera captured impressive pictures with great clarity. This is possible with the use of superpixel technology which combines the detail of four pixels into one helping reduce noise and increase quality. At the front, Poco F1 has a 20MP sensor along with superpixel technology to capture impressive and detailed pictures even in low light. In terms of video, the device can shoot up to 4K which turns out smooth and sharp, but it does have noise when capturing at an indoor location.
Overall, the Poco F1 is an excellent smartphone in terms of Performance and Camera capability. However, there is minor software incompatibility which we have never expected. That’s being said, if you’re looking for “flagship killer” smartphone at an attractive price point, then Poco F1 is truly made for you.
