The Indian smartphone market is a playground for Smartphone manufacturers. Turns out the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi is entering the premium segment by launching a sub-brand altogether called, POCOPHONE. Though the new sub-brand is expected to hit the global market soon the brand is being called POCO only in India. Jai Mani, the Product Head of Xiaomi uploaded a tweet about the new project. The recent tweets by Xiaomi India were hinting about the new launch but Jai Mani put out a letter giving information about the new range confirming the rumours.

The details about the new brand are yet to be disclosed but the wave of the internet caught up and the leaks about first phone by POCO are raging on the internet. The first phone by POCO is called POCOPHONE. The recent leaks by the twitter account of Igor Chemencedji showcase the PocoPhone F1.

The new entrant has a 5.99-inch (1080×2160 pixels) display, a notch, while it is powered by Snapdragon 845 SoC. In terms of optics, it has a 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera setup paired with 20 MP selfie camera (the touch of Xiaomi) with the new IR face unlock while supporting Super Pixel technology. The Pocophone F1 will have a headphone jack and with a USB Type C port. The F1 will be available in Blue and Grey colour options and the phone will come in two variants, 6GB RAM/ 64GB and 6GB RAM / 128GB models. The F1 will come with a 4000 mAh battery. To live up to the trends of the smartphone world, Poco has also introduced a liquid cooling system(which appears to be slightly sceptical to me).

Xiaomi which is already a strong player in India in the budget segment has been trying to enter the premium segment with its Mi Mix series and also has a new phone Mi Mix 3 which will be launching on September 30th this year. Despite the competitive price and the leading specs, will Poco be able to cement its position in the competitive Indian market which is already a battlefield for all the leading as well as upcoming smartphone manufacturers?
