Xiaomi has announced its first Android One smartphone “A1” at a global launch event in New Delhi. The new Mi A1 won’t be running any proprietary software layer – MIUI. Instead, the devices run Google stock operating system and the future updates will be provided by Google.

The Mi A1 is powered by Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor based on 14nm FinFET technology. It is paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal memory with an expandable up to 256GB. It has a 5.5-inch full HD 1080p display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The metal unibody and 2.5D curved-edge glass at the front and rounded corners offer comfort in your palm.

Talking about the camera, the device sports dual camera setup at the back with a 12-megapixel wide-angle and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens for 2x zooming and portraits with shallow depth of field. The 50 mm telephoto lens captures the main image and the wide-angle lens assists with the depth of field, and both the lenses work together to create a bokeh. The Xiaomi Mi A1 runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat operating system and is powered by a 3080mAh non-removable battery. The phone charges over USB-C, unlike Xiaomi’s more budget-orientated offerings, and the company is even including a custom 380V charger that it says is designed to handle India’s frequent power spikes. It measures 155.40 x 75.80 x 7.30 (height x width x thickness) and weigh 168.00 grams.
