The Chinese Tech Giant Xiaomi debuted in the UK with the flagship MI 8 Pro, Redmi 6A and Mi 3 Band. The smartphone manufacturer which is known for its diverse range of products has been looking forward to expanding its identity in the UK.The company is set to launch in America next month.
In an interview ahead of the launch, Xiang Wang , Senior vice president said, “The UK is one of the important global center for technologies,”
He further added “It is a young energetic place, so pretty much fits our culture – we wnat to be the coolest company in our fans mind,”
The UK product- line includes the flagship Mi 8 Pro, entry-level Redmi 6A device, the Xiaomi Band 3 fitness band and an electric scooter. The Mi 8 Pro has a fingerprint sensor hidden behind its 6.2in (15.7cm) display and uses Google’s Android operating system It is called out the transparent glass rear through which some of its components can be seen. The phone is launched at the price of £499.99.
Xiaomi will be selling its products both online and in a Mi store at London’s Westfield shopping centre in White City which will be officially launched on November 18. Talking about the same, Wang said, “Online we will do mi.com and we will work with every online channel including Amazon and others,” He added, “Offline partners will include Carphone Warehouse and the exclusive launch carrier channel will be 3.”
In an attempt to lure customers, Xiaomi is offering early bird discount to the first 100 people a £100 discount on the Xiaomi scooter and the first 10,000 potential Band 3 owners the wearable for £19.99 ( The retail price of the MI Band 3 is £26.99 )
While the company has successfully created a customer base in the Asian continent and also captured the attention of the titans such as Samsung, Apple and other tech giants, will the company able to sustain the competition in the UK.
