Earlier this year, Samsung launched its Bixby digital assistant with its Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones. The company unwaveringly guaranteed that the physical button couldn’t be remapped, so there wasn’t much choice left for the customers. But, it looks the mega tech giant company is wavering up it’s a bit on its word. It appears that the company has provided the option to disable Bixby button with its latest update. We were able to view the toggle option previously, but now it looks like it has disappeared ever since then. Thus, if you wish to disable the Bixby option, we suggest that it would be judicious to use the option immediately, as your mileage may be different.
How to Disable Bixby Button
For clarification purposes, after you disable the Bixby button, the button will not be able to launch Bixby Home. However, if you long press the button, it will still be able to kick off the Bixby Voice. This was reported by one of the leading media houses. If you don’t know how to get the option to disable this service functionality, then firstly, you have to make sure that you have the most recent version of the various Bixby services that are available. If you wish to get the updates, you need to navigate to the Galaxy Apps. Then, from there, you must access the My Apps section, which are the three dots on the top-right part of the display screen.
After going to the My Apps section, you have to go to All apps. Then, you need to download the most recent updates to all the Bixby services. Later on, you can navigate to Bixby Home. There, you will find the toggle to disable the option from the menu. Currently, this appears to be a major step from Samsung, which will allow the users to disable the Bixby button. However, a lot of users, instead of this, have been demanding the South Korean company to allow them to remap the button in order to launch other apps and services.
