FIRST IMPRESSION :Obi Worldphone SF1 is like a new born baby in the smart phone world. Trying to build a reputation by focusing on building budget smartphones aiming mainly at users experience and aesthetics. Obi World phone is trying to establish itself in the market and by the looks of it, it will do fairly well. The new born are backed up really well by the Ex-CEO of Apple John Sculley. Now doesn’t that name Apple create an impact and make you want to know more about the phone and the company. Trust me, it got me curious too and we wouldn’t blame you for being curious.Design and BuildThe Obi Worldphone SF1 looks very much like the Xiaomi Mi3. The design and built of the SF1 is not only smashing but breath-taking. The only difference between the Mi3 and the SF1 is that SF1 has an elevated screen, although the phone is rectangular in shape. The elevated screen gives it a very premium look. Because of the elevated screen, you’ll be barely touching the screen. The phone looks sturdy and there have been no compromises made with the protection of the glass as well. The choice of the design stands out which makes it looks premium. The display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and the floating glass covered with Oleophobic coating which protects the glass. Although, the coating is not exactly resistant but it’s enough to be protected. The metal strip on the top is made of metal and rest is made of plastic. It has a 3.5mm jack and besides it there is a secondary mic. The power button and the volume rocker is on the left side. Sim Tray is on the right side. It’s a dual sim handset with Sim 1 and Sim 2 is Hybrid which implies you can either use micro-sim + micro SD card or micro sim + nano sim. LTE is compatible on both the sim sloths. Micro USB port and speaker vent out is at the bottom. There are dual mics for noise cancellation.PerformanceSF1 is powered with 1.5 Ghz Octa-Core processor with either 2GB/3GB storage based on the storage option you choose 16/32GB ROM. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8939 615 64 bit processor as 32 bit is going extinct. The processor are displayed on a gorgeous elevated screen of 5 inches JDI In-Cell IPS full HD 1080X1920 pixels offering 443ppi. It runs on Android Lollipop 5.0.2 and their own in-house customized UI of Obi Lifespeed. What makes is eye catchy is the floating glass. It has an expandable memory upto 64GB via Micro-SD card. SF1 hasn’t compromised with the battery life and packed it with 3000 mAh battery. Battery life has been a concern over the years, so if you’re out of juice the SF1 is powered with quick charge of 1.0. The SF1 also supports Air gestures which is something you couldn’t expect for at this price range.CameraThe front camera is 5MP and the rear is 13MP AF with LED flash which has a Sony Exmor IMX214 sensor. You can shoot Full HD videos with the rear camera which is a big positive. All in all it’s a very good buy when you look at the price of the phone. The phone looks premium and is quite short of being a flagship. Nevertheless, the aim is delivered to bring budget phones and the promise has been fulfilled. If you’re looking to buy the phone, then you can purchase the device from Amazon.in and NDTV Gadgets 360. It is priced at INR 11,999 for the 2GB variant and at INR 13,999 for the 3GB variant .
