A man responsible for the miraculous rescue of iconic Royal Enfield motorcycle.He believed in the brand which was on the verge of collapsing and lift it from the ground with his sheer passion and hard work right from the age when he considered himself ˜naÃ¯ve\’.I. Siddhartha Lal, CEO, Royal Enfield a well-known for his passion for biking asked his father for two years of ˜grace period\’ to turn Royal Enfield around when company was making losses in year 2000.II. In 14 years, the man has literally not only turned the Royal Enfield inside out but also helped restructure the group flagship Eicher Motors. In the past few years, Royal Enfield has been successfully repositioned as a cool urban bike.III. Lal was just 26 years old at the time when he started working towards Royal Enfield. Lal admits that the brand had enormous potential but the way it was running at that time was not a justice to the brand.IV. There were several family business that were running but Lal decided to focus exclusively on commercial vehicles. It took him two years to put a rock solid partnership in place. The search for partner took lot of time and in December 2007, Volvo signed up with Eicher Motors, investing Rs 1,082 crore for a 50% stake in the joint venture company Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles (VECV).V.Lal joined Eicher group in 1999 and since then he worked in various capacities in the marketing division of Eicher Tractor Business unit.VI.Lal is working on ˜sustainable urban mobility\’ and the role it has to play in sustainability, especially in urban settings; and its role on our health, safety and quality of life.VII. He was nominated as a part of World\’s Economic Forum\’s Global Agenda Council for Transportation and he is also a part of Next Generation Leader\’s Board at Indian School of Business.VIII.Lal graduation in Economics from St. Stephen\’s College, Delhi University. He also did Post-Graduate Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Canfield University, UK and a Master\’s of Science degree in Automotive Engineering at the University of Leeds, UK.IX.
