The brand new Samsung W2018 flip phone offers plenty of high-level features. And it is likely to be exclusive only to China.
The tech giant Samsung finally launched its brand new flip phone called the W2018, at an event in China on Friday, 1 December 2017. The device offers all the flagship-level specs. Interestingly, it provides world’s widest aperture that’s ever featured in a smartphone.
Samsung W2018 features a combination of metal and glass as its body. The smartphone is fueled by the Snapdragon 835 SoC. It is further paired with 6GB of RAM. The mobile operates on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. It also boasts a 12MP rear camera.
Samsung W2018: Specs and Features
Unlike the latest Galaxy Note 8, the rear camera of this phone only uses a single sensor. Still, this is world’s first ever mobile to come with the widest smartphone aperture of f1.5. This number is comparatively lower than the f1.7 sensors, which Samsung has apparently used in its flagship mobiles.
The Samsung W2018’s f1.5 aperture will allow you to snap better images even in low-light conditions. Consequently, it will also allow you to make a higher degree of bokeh effect with a single camera. The company has installed some kind of a software trick, which will allow the mobile to switch aperture between F1.5 and F2.4.
Apart from the widest aperture lens, the remaining specs of the Samsung W2018 include two 4.2-inch Full HD displays. The front-facing screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5.
The device available in two storage options. One is 64GB and the other is 256GB of storage. The front camera uses a 5MP sensor. The 12MP rear camera, however, offers an Optical Image Stabilization feature. The device offers a fingerprint sensor right next to
the rear camera. Also, the device offers a dedicated Bixby button to activate the voice assistant. The Samsung W2018 uses a USB Type-C port and runs on a 2,300mAh battery.
