2019 is going to be a pretty important year for Samsung as the company celebrates the tenth anniversary of the Galaxy series, while at the same time making a stronger pitch to take on Chinese competition that has been taking a major chunk of the market away from the South Korean giant. Next month is going to be all about the Galaxy S10 lineup, but before we get to that, Samsung is planning to disrupt the affordable segment with the Galaxy M series. The Galaxy M series global debut will happen in India in January where it is widely expected to see the launch of the Galaxy M10 and M20 smartphones. Scroll through for the must-knows.
What’s The Release Date?
The launch is confirmed on January 28, and go on sale from February 5. The company in a press release on Monday confirmed the launch date.
Where To Count On?
The company confirmed that Galaxy M-Series smartphones will be available both via Amazon India and the Samsung Online Shop. The Galaxy M-Series is rumoured to include three phones – Galaxy M10, Galaxy M20, and Galaxy M30 – aimed at different price-segments.
Reasons That Make It Worth Waiting
- INFINITY-V DISPLAY
The Samsung Galaxy M-Series smartphones will be targeted at ‘young millennials‘, which is why Samsung is finally adopting the notch with its Infinity-V display.
- TYPE-C PORT
Galaxy M series will bring some a Type-C port with fast charging technology, something that is pretty rare to see in the affordable segment.
- POWERFUL BATTERY
M30 and M20 to come with a massive 5,000mAh battery. The M10 may not get the same capacity and is rumoured to get a smaller yet significant 3,400mAh
Based on what rumours have told us, the phones will get a 13MP + 5MP configuration on the back and a possible 5MP sensor on the front with an ultra wide-angle lens, which would be quite unique to see in this segment.
According to our sources, the Galaxy M10 will be priced at Rs 8,990 while the Galaxy M20 will cost Rs 12,990 in India. These are likely the prices for the base models, in case the Galaxy M10 and M20 come in more than one variant.
What past rumours have suggested is that the Galaxy M20 will come with 3GB of RAM with either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage.
