Founder & CEO | College drop-out
Ritesh is the first and only resident Asian recipient of the Thiel Fellowship who received a $100,000 grant along with mentoring from Peter Thiel (Founder of PayPal) for dropping out of college to pursue innovative ideas. After a great deal of travelling at 17 and realising a gap, he thus went on to pursue his venture OYO Rooms – India’s largest hospitality company. Prior to developing the destructive startup OYO, Ritesh was the Founder at Oravel that later pivoted to OYO which has won him several accolades and awards.
His vision for the next big thing that he’d bet on aligns with unlocking the value in real-estate through quality living-spaces by creating perfect equilibrium between location, comfort and pricing. He also wants to continue innovating with OYO’s model and introduce standardization to all forms of Real Estate to ensure valuedriven experiences for customers and travellers, alike. Extending his startup culture, he wishes to start Oravel Stays as his next venture. The first gadget he owned was a Macbook. In his downtime, he likes to indulge in Cycling and Yoga. Ritesh also enjoys catching a book or two in his free time with Elon Musk: How the Billionaire CEO of SPACEX and Tesla is shaping our future, Chocolates on the Pillow Aren’t Enough: Reinventing The Customer Experience by Jonathan Tisch being his favourites.
