First Impressions

By the looks of it, the Digiflip Pro XT is your typical tablet. Not very slim bezels but the display still looks decent. Power and volume keys are placed on the left side which somehow, does feel like a bad idea. The back panel feels a little extra smooth. Doesn\’t exactly give you the required grip and will slip off while you place it on your lap. The thickness is right. Not too thin nor bulging. Convenient while travelling.

Flipkart went safe and opted for a 7 inch display with a 1280 x 800 pixels HD IPS display. It goes low on a 216ppi. Body dimensions are 113.7 x 185.3 x 9.20 mm and it feels heavy at 285gms. To talk simply about the display, it is quite satisfactory. Do not have very high expectations here. Image quality seems about fine and videos do look to be quite clean too. Colour seems about right and the brightness is pretty good. Moving on from the display, the design as mentioned is quite simple. All buttons are placed on the left along with the audio-jack on the top as well. Charge point/USB is placed at the bottom. The Digiflip runs on a 1.3GHz quad-core Cortex-A7 Processor paired with 1GB of RAM. There weren\’t any complains on lagging and switching between apps was quite easy. You cannot expect rocket speed with this one as it is a budget friendly tablet. There is 16GB internal storage which can be further expanded to 32GB.The software is almost stock Android and runs on v4.2.2. Here\’s hoping it gets the 4.3 update at least some time soon to have a more improved UI. There aren\’t much of changes made by Flipkart to the UI. The tablet has 2 3G SIM card slots. Flipkart also offers us an OTG support along with the USB and charger. In terms of camera, there isn\’t much to look forward to. It has a 5MP rear camera with an LED Flash. Even in decent lighting, the pictures weren\’t sharp and dynamic range was average. Videos were the same. Camera is overall quite disappointing. It has a 2MP front facing camera which is ok for video calls but, not the best. The audio output was the most disappointing. Even on full volume, the music loudness seemed super-low. The Digiflip has a 3000mAh Li-Ion battery which worked for a good 7 8 hours and did have occasional heating problems as well. Some of the offers listed by Flipkart include free shopping worth Rs. 5,300 on Flipkart via mobile app; try and buy offer for limited period; free one-month subscription of Flipkart First; flat 50 percent off on book case worth Rs. 799 for Digiflip Pro tablet; free Plantronics ML2 Bluetooth headset worth Rs. 1,199, and free eBooks on Flipkart worth Rs. 2,300/-

If you need an affordable tablet for around 4 hours a day, then this would be good. But with low end specifications and features, this wouldn\’t be a wise purchase for everyone. Investing in a slightly costlier tablet will be a safer option, but if all you want is a tablet which gives good browsing experience, then you can consider this.
