Micromax Infinity N12
Price: Rs 9,999
As the market is getting crowded by mid-range bezel-less notch smartphone, Micromax also made a jump by bringing 18:9 bezel-less display with an iPhone-like notch to a mid-range smartphone market. Introducing a bezel-less smartphone in the market, Micromax has definitely placed itself in competition with the popular smartphones like Realme 2 and Redmi 6 Pro. The rear side of the is eye-catching, thanks to the glossy look on the rear, but it is made up of plastic. There is Honor style gradient blue and velvet Red, the one we received was in dark blue which Micromax named it Viola. The fingerprint sensor is located on the back of the handset, and we found it easy to reach when holding the phone. The 18:9 display sports HD+ resolution, that makes it less attractive against its competitors.
The device is powered by MediaTek’s helio P22 processor paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card. Performance-wise, the Infinity N12 can handle daily tasks easily, but we did encounter slight lag while multitasking. The Infinity N12 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo, with some minor customization by Micromax. It does come with preinstalled software like PayTM, Amazon, Cricket Champs League, etc. These apps cannot be uninstalled from the phone, means these apps will definitely stay on the phone’s internal memory. One of the biggest strengths of the Infinity N12 is a 4000 mAh battery which will work for a day on a single charge with moderate usage.
Talking about camera, Infinity N12 offers a dual camera on the rear, consisting of 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel camera. I was not impressed with the output of the camera if we compare to its alternative. Despite numerous mode and AI tweaks, the smartphone can’t cope up with its competitors in terms of camera performance. The front-facing camera clicks sharp pictures with a 16-megapixel sensor. Overall, the Micromax Infinity N12 is impressive but not perfect.
The Micromax Infinity N12 is a perfect balance between style and efficiency which are the specific features you need in a mid-range smartphone. However, at the same price point, you can find a much better smartphone from Xiaomi, Moto, Asus and Realme.
