The Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon confirms how far Ultrabooks have come in recent years. Looking back at the history of Thinkpad, it got a massive decrease in weight and thickness while retaining mostly the used Thinkpad features including red TrackPoint. Though the laptop is dealing with extremely tight dimensions and lightweight construction, it still manages to pack great hardware specifications. The Thinkpad is a business laptop, so it offers strength and security. The chassis is made from a combination of carbon fibre and magnesium making it extremely light and durable. It also supports dTPM encryption to offer maximum data security. The fingerprint sensor stores the data in the same chip in order to protect from hackers. There is an infrared camera that will allow you to use Windows Hello facial recognition and it works well unless you make a drastic change on your face. Just like other ThinkPads, the X1 Carbon offers red TrackPoint in the centre of the keyboard between G & H keys. It is for those loyal Thinkpad users. There is a modern buttonless trackpad as well for the newcomers. Talking about the display, Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon has a 14-inch matte display with touch functionality.

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon squeezes in a 8th-generation Coffee Lake quad-core i7-8650U processor paired with 16GB of RAM. Despite the size of this ultrabook, the i7-8650U is a quad-core chip with 8 threads, which consumes max 15 watts. The new Intel Core i7-8650U is crazy fast and perform every task with ease, even multi-tasking are handle smoothly by X1 Carbon which was quite surprising considering the size of the laptop. Read and Write speed is also better because it is packed with faster 512GB SSD, that means storing data and opening large files are faster on X1 Carbon. The Laptop also comes with a LTE modem built-in, means you can directly insert SIM and start browsing on the web. There’s a 57 Wh battery inside the ThinkPad X1 Carbon and that’s not bad, considering most other ultrabooks get below 50Wh battery these days.

Lenovo ThinkPad series constantly offered durability and security, but with the lightweight package, the X1 Carbon remains the ultimate business laptops you can find in stores.
