The Railway Minister of Indian Railways, Suresh Prabhu has launched today an integrated mobile application called the Rail SAARTHI. However, this app is not only for ticket booking and does a lot more than that. It caters to different requirements of passengers like inquiry, onboard cleaning, ordering meals and more, all in one platform.
The Indian Railway is coming up with multiple apps lately. Users have to download a particular app for using different services. Keeping this in mind and trying to provide a better experience to the customers, Indian Railway has come up with this all in one app. In fact, there was actually need of an integrated application that could have given a single window user interface for these various services.
The Railway Minister, Suresh Prabhu said after launching the app,
“Currently there are multiple mobile apps by the Railways. To use different services, users need to search and download each application separately. In order to provide better customer experience, there was a need for an integrated application which could give a single window interface for these services.”
The Rail SAARTHI (synergised advanced application rail travel help and information) is also going to include complaint facility and suggestions for improvement. Users can give feedback and book air ticket through the app too. The Railway Minister also announced a quota facility for differently- abled people in 3 AC coaches.
Prabhu has also extended the advance booking period for foreigners from 120 days to 365 days. The lower berth in a 3 AC coach will be reserved for physically-challenged people and the middle for the individual who is travelling with them. However, there will be only one berth for this case in the 3AC coach of the train. Till date, the quota provision for differently-abled was only provided in the sleeper class.
