One of the paramount shows in Europe for electronics and technology, IFA 2018, took place in Berlin and it certainly did live up to our expectations of completely leaving us spellbound with the showcase of some amazing tech gadgets. The most waited 5-day event for tech lovers began from the 31st of August 2018. Technology developers from across the world gather in this consumer electronics trade show to
launch their latest products. IFA 2018 was flooded with an array of electronics from new age laptops, televisions, speakers, robots and mobile phones of course along with many other innovations.
Though the event had a lot to offer we still can’t get enough of the latest mobiles phones where some of them really deserve being on our coolest techs of 2018’s list. There were a couple of great launches as far as mobiles phones are concerned. Smartphones by Sony Xperia, Blackberry, Honor Play, LG and HTC
to name a few.
Going with the section of mobile phones we would like to start with Sony Xperia which did come like a bit of surprise after Sony considerably losing its market share in Mobile phones. The launch of Xperia XZ3 can mark Sony’s comeback with some amazing features like a 3300 mAh Battery and 4GB RAM
with 64GB of storage.
Also, there is a 6-inch OLED screen display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip and great camera which has a 19-megapixel camera on the rear and a 13-megapixel front camera. As for the look, it is quite decent with a sleek metal and glass design body. The phone comes with an Android 9 Pie which can
be its advantage over most another mobile phone. Unlike, prior Xperia phones, this looks more promising and might capture some market this year.
Another phone launch worth mentioning was, the Blackberry Key2 LE. The phone is inexpensive compared to other Blackberry phones and the specs in abundance the phone has both a touch-screen feature and qwerty keypad. A 3000mAh battery along with 4GB of RAM and Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor! The smartphone is expected to start with a price range of $400.
It was in 2016 when Lenovo first launched its Yoga Book with a special feature of a hinged screen and sensitive touch keyboard that is also known as Halo Keyboard that appears only when you need it and when unused it disappears. In this event, Lenovo introduced an extended version of Yoga Book, C930 which has E Ink display instead of Halo keyboard. The device can be used as a tablet as it can be folded over. Another thing that makes Yoga Book cool is that it is super slim and weighs even lesser than 2 pounds. Yoga Book is expected to hit the markets this September and is estimated to cost roughly around $1175.
There was another laptop announced and featured in the IFA 2018 that was created a hype was Acer Swift 5 which is the thinnest and the lightest laptop in the world with a 15-inch screen. Both Samsung Q900 and LG have come up with huge screens of 85-inch and 88-inch respectively with an impressive OLED technology which is the icing on the cake. The rich colours, sharper picture quality and crazy packing in mammoth 33 million plus pixels might just not be an affordable option for many as it will be priced very high but we certainly can’t deny the fact that it is an absolute pleasure to witness these revolutionary 8k OLED televisions. Though they are expected to be available in October 2018 still there has been no confirmation of the price and commercial launch! Samsung Q900 also supports HDR10+ content and it can also convert 4k content into the 8k content without distorting the picture quality.
