Finally, a smartwatch offering a design that is much more “watch-like” then many of its competitors. The Fossil Q Watch is certainly one of the most attractive Android Wear watches in the market and benefits from easily replaceable watch straps and a longlasting battery.
How does it feel out of the box?
On a style level, Fossil Q looks quite similar to Moto 360 and Huawei watch. Though we expect more style statement from Fossil, but the design is sleek and simple just like any other analog watch but with LCD display. The Fossil Q features a circular display sporting the same “flat tyre” chunk at the bottom of the watch display – just like the Moto 360. The one we have here comes with Stainless steel strap and it can easily swap with any other 22mm strap, allowing you to change the look of your Q Wander that fits your style. The Fossil Q smartwatch is sized at 45mm wide and is 13.5mm thick, makes it bit oversize for the people with the thinner wrist. Fossil Q uses magnetic Qi Wireless charging technology to charge your watch.
How does it perform?
Let’s talk about the screen first, even though the Fossil Q Wander features a 1.5” display with a resolution of 360 x 360 pixel, the LCD display isn’t as crisp as we expected. Out of the Box Fossil Q Wander runs Android Wear, Operating System that made by Google specifically for the Smartwatch. With Android Wear OS, you get notifications for calls, emails, texts, apps and calendar alerts along with watch faces. You’ll also be able to use ‘Ok Google’ to voice search, dictate from the wrist. Fossil Q Wander promises 24 hours of battery life, which is about what I’ve been getting at every charge. It can also track your steps and activities, giving you a daily report on your movement.
What is the verdict?
The Fossil Q might not attempt to do as much as the similar offerings from Motorola or Apple. But with a sleek and improved performance along with the Brand name, make it a must buy product for Brand conscious consumer. Rest can ignore.
