Evolve is finally out for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game has been developed by Turtle Rock Studios, creators of Left 4 Dead, and is published by 2K Games. The game is an asymmetric, multiplayer game. The focus is definitely on teamwork, as you gang up with others to take a down a powerful monster.
Evolve pits four human beings against one huge monster. Overall, the game features 12 hunters to choose from, three from each class, along with 3 deadly monsters. The best part about Evolve is that you can play as one of the hunters or you can play as the mighty monster. If you play as a monster, you must hide from the shrewd hunters. If you are spotted early, there is high chance you will end up dead. To become stronger, the monster has to feed off other wildlife. At stage 3, the monster is the strongest, and the hunters will have a tough task at hand to kill it. The monster can either kill all the hunters or destroy the power generator to win.
If you play as a hunter, you can choose to be a medic, assault hunter, trapper or support. Hunters won\’t come face to face with the monster easily. They will simply have to follow tracks which will eventually lead them to the monster. No matter which hunter you choose, you will have enough abilities at your disposal. There are plenty of weapons to take on the powerful monster. To unlock the next character in each class, you will need to complete objectives for each class. However, there are only 3 characters in each class.
Evolve has four modes that you will participate in. Hunt, Nest, Defend, and Rescue are the four different modes. Hunt is easily the best mode, as you have to hunt down the monster before he reaches stage 3. After that stage in the game, the monster is powerful, and it takes a lot of skill and planning to take him down. In the Nest mode, the hunters have to destroy six eggs before they crack open and introduce minions to the environment. The other modes are good, but do not hold your attention like the Hunt mode.
Graphically, Evolve runs well on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. However, the quality is clearly superior on PC. The monsters are well-defined, but getting too close to them will probably result in your death. The maps and environment in Evolve are detailed, and that makes it a fantastic game. Sound is very important in the game, and everything from hearing footsteps to track the monster to gunfire is good. Play Evolve using good headphones, it is highly recommended.
There is enough game time for gamers who are patient, while all the perks unlock. If you play with easy level, you will probably unlock everything within a few hours, and that is when Evolve gets real.
Evolve offers you the best multiplayer experience. If you are lucky, you will find the best partners to make the game truly remarkable. If not, then you will really struggle to get through. The well-balanced characters and their abilities make hunt even. Evolve landed on our consoles with big expectations, and it did not disappoint.
