The Festival of Music and all that Jazz
As India witnesses an increasing exposure to experimental music and the trend surrounding music festivals, there has been a supporting surge in the number of homegrown music festivals. A lot many successful festivals like the Bacardi NH7 Weekender, Storm Festival, Ziro Festival of Music held subsequent editions. Each year, the calendar is marked by additions and one such young and successful entrant is the Enchanted Valley Carnival.
EVC: The Festival for Dummie
Incepted and introduced to audiences in India in the year 2013 was EVC, a unique music festival property held annually in December. Each year sees a growing footfall of very ecstatic and vibrant attendees who are total music buffs wanting to have a good time and indulge in some activities. Initially organized by Twisted Entertainment, a newly-launched event company, the property later came to partner with Universal Music Group in 2015. This 4 years old festival is associated with genres like international Pop, Bollywood, EDM, techno, fusion and Indie and likes to refer to its style of music as experimental music even though the music is more EDM inclined. In addition to this, it is Asia’s first-ever music festival that merges music merging music with adventure with their many professional adventure sport activities at the Enchanted Village such as Hot Air Ballooning, Adventure Sports, Water sports Jet skis, Kayaking, Volleyball/Basketball, Rock Climbing, Rappelling, 4×4 Jungle Safari, Zipline and lots more. Shopping at the flea market, setting up bonfire sessions, doing barbeque while camping are all the additional elements that come in at the festival. Other experiences that can be revelled in include silent parties, bonfires, jam sessions, dream catcher making workshop, art and paint workshop, poi workshop and drum circles.Also, it is presented by Absolut and partnered with Vodafone, Saavn, Times Group and sees a growing footfall of attendees each year.
Where Does It Take Place?
Situated 120 km from Mumbai on the MumbaiPune Expressway and sprawling across 10,000 acres is the luxurious Ambay Valley’s, India’s first planned hill city. It is known for its unique, luxurious and self-contained nature thus redefining fine living. The City comprises of high-end villas, condominiums along with essential infrastructure such as a hospital, school, airport and shopping facilities. Ambay Valley&s picturesque, landscape beauty, greenery and open spaces make for a great location for a unique music festival that blends music and adventure.
The Different Stages
One characteristic and unique feature of the festival is the fact that there are multiple stages (with very unique names) playing different specific genres for the audiences to recognize. Out of the four stages set up for the festival, three are dedicated to EDM starting with Cosmos stage that plays International Pop/Dance Music, Pyro Stage for EDM &BDM [Afterparty], Akva Stage for Techno music, Terra Stage playing Live Bollywood and Aero Stage for Deep House and Techno (Afterparty).
EVC 2016 and the various Performing Artists at the EVC
EVC has established itself as a festival which has an experimental line up of artists spanning across multiple genres. EVC covers a huge range of artists thus bringing together some of the most electrifying international and indian talent in their line-ups.The fourth Edition of EVC was held on December 17 and 18, 2016.Upping the game this year was the melange of amazing international and indian artists that brought in exclusive acts such as Flo Rida, Lost Stories, Jeremy Olander, Chris Liebing, Arsh, Madoc, Mojojojo!, Kerano, Papon Live, Force (Sartek, Shaan &Joshi), Progressive Brothers and among many others for its massive phase 1 line-up thus boasting a vast diversity of genres.Popular international artists like ATB, Taio Cruz and Martin Garrix headlined the first year of the festival in 2013 and stepped it up by bringing in David Guetta in 2014.Carlo Lio,Folic State, Bullzeye, Candice Redding, Blasterjaxx, Deniz Koyu, Tiesto, Fatboy Slim, Ferry Corsten, Marco V, Alex M.o.r.p.h, Zaeden, Arjun Vagale, Kohra, Oozeundatare some other cool artists to have performed at the EVC.EVC can thus not be passed off as any other music festival as it brings a unique concept to the table with its amalgamation of music, camping, adventure, fun and distinct activities. In a nutshell, EVC is an experience that brings together diverse people and artists across India and internationally to celebrate music and have a good time amidst the beautiful setting of the mini city that Ambay Valley is.
