Asus Zenbook 15 UX533FD
The Asus ZenBook 15 confirms how far Ultrabooks have come in recent years. Though the laptop is dealing with extremely tight dimensions and lightweight construction, it still manages to pack great hardware specifications. So as the most high-end Zenbook, this Zenbook has a 15-inch glossy panel with few centimetres of the bezel which makes it looks gorgeous, but they are prone to scratches. Speaking of ports, there is one USB Type-C port Gen 2, HDMI, USB Type-A 3.1, USB Type-A 3.0, SD Card and a 3.5mm Headphone jack. The laptop has a small little cut out at the bottom like MacBook and other laptops to make it easier to open. For sounds, it has two speakers at the back to provide loud and incredible sound. The keyboard is fully backlit and looks quite compact as it squeezes to fit inside a 14-inch Zenbook. The trackpad below the keyboard is really nice and it’s very responsive to track finger gestures, also this variant lacks touch numeric keypad on the trackpad. Talking about the display, Asus ZenBook UX533FD has a display-to-body ratio of 92% means that the Zenbook UX533FD is a 15.6-inch laptop in a 14-inch case. The ZenBook is slimmer than most of the laptop out there in the market. It is 8.66 inches thick and 1.69 kg.
ZenBook squeezes in an 8th-generation Intel i7-8565U processor clocked up to 4.6GHz and backs it up with 16GB of RAM. Despite the size of this ultrabook, the i7-8565U is a full-fat, quad-core chip, which consumes max 15 watts. It’s the same as you’d find in much thicker laptops. The new Intel Core i7-8565U is very fast and perform every task with ease, even multi-tasking are handle smoothly by Zenbook which was quite surprising considering the size of the laptop. Read and Write speed is also better because it packed with faster 512GB SSD’s, that means storing data and opening large files are faster on Zenbook. The laptop also integrates NVIDIA GTX 1050 graphics card into the slimmest ultrabook. This GPU can easily handle high-end games like Far cry 4, Battlefield 1, The Division, etc. However, the GTX 1050 is still an year old chip and I’d expect the ZenBook 15 to be upgraded to Nvidia latest RTX series somewhere down the line and at that time it will be a far more capable gaming option. The keyboard has proper spacing between the keys are also quiet and backlit, with three brightness levels to choose from, so overall this keyboard is one of the best you can find on a high-end ultrabook right now. We can say Asus has managed to get keyboards right on their latest Zenbooks. There’s a 73 Wh battery inside the Zenbook UX533FD and that’s not bad, considering most other laptops get a 50Wh battery these days.
The Zenbook UX533FD does not struggle to impress. If you’re looking for an ultraportable and have around money to spend, the Zenbook UX533FD series should be on your list. Thanks to its all-aluminium design, this ultrabook is lightweight and compact – making it very useful for travel and presentations. I would highly recommend Asus ZenBook UX533FD to anyone looking to buy a premium laptop and gaming as a second priority.
