Asus ROG Strix GTX 1080 Ti OC Edition Review

How it feels out of the Box?

The new Asus ROG Strix 1080 Ti Graphics card is one of the fastest gaming GPU available if you exclude NVIDIA Titan X Pascal. Asus has its own design with patented Wing-Blade fan design and IP5X dust-resistance to further protect to dust. ASUS has opted out for the standard blower-style configuration. Instead, they went ahead with traditional style cooling with three fan design for improved thermal transfer. Asus also offers FanConnect II for optimal cooling performance with power saving features. The GPU also comes along with Aura Sync to improve RGB LED synchronisation with your motherboard.

On the back of the card, you will find a sturdy metal backplate that will protect components from being exposed. Connectivity-wise, it offers a DVI port, two HDMI 2.0 ports, and two DisplayPorts 1.2 which enable support for4K @ 120 Hz and 5K @ 60 Hz or 8K @ 60 Hz with two cables. Simultaneously, you can use all the ports for a multi-monitor setup. The GPU also comes with an HDMI sound device. It is HDMI 2.0b compatible, which supports HD audio and Blu-ray 3D movies. The GPU’s video-encoding unit has been updated to support HEVC at 10-bit and 12-bit.

The Asus GTX 1080 Ti are built around a new NVIDIA Pascal-based GPU as the Titan X Pascal. It has the same CUDA core count in GTX 1080 Ti, along with increased clocks. However, the GTX 1080 Ti has 1GB Less VRAM than the Titan X Pascal. NVIDIA decision to go with a 352-bit wide memory bus to transfer more amount of data in a minimum time period. GTX 1080Ti is manufactured on Samsung 14nm FinFET process node, that means it comprised of 3.3 billion transistors in a die size measuring only 135mm.

How does it Perform?

Now it’s time to reveal the performance of the new beast. The Asus GTX 1080 Ti is a top-end GTX 1000-series graphic card, it was able to easily pull every GPU intensive games very well. We put Asus GTX 1080 Ti Strix into test by playing graphics intensive and popular games like Battlefield 1, The Division and GTA V. From the test result, we able to play Battlefield 1 at ultra setting with average 150fps,  The Division at ultra setting with average 120fps and GTA V at high setting with average 150fps. After benchmark, we can say that it performed like a beast. Also, Asus ROG GTX 1080 Ti is Overclock capable, that can increase the performance more than the stock speed.


The ASUS GTX 1080 Ti Strix performed well throughout our testing, considering it’s one of the powerful graphics card out there in the market. It is the beast when it comes to performance and the fact it is over 12-inches long and weighs roughly 1200 grams. If you are in the market for the latest and the greatest gaming cards, you should probably consider Asus GTX 1080 Ti 11GB over a year old GTX 1080 Graphics cards. So in retrospect the Asus GTX 1080 Ti simply is a beast and probably the ultimate card series to get for an enthusiast class gaming PC.
