Apple has partnered with A R Rahman for opening two new Mac Labs at Rahman’s KM Music Conservatory (KMMC) based in Chennai and also in the upcoming new campus in Mumbai. The objective behind this partnership is mainly helping students learn to create music in Logic Pro X and Apple’s proprietary music creation app for macOS. The Senior Vice President of Apple’s Internet Software and Services, Eddy Cue was in Mumbai recently for making this announcement. Along with this, the company has also claimed to provide ten full-time musical scholarships for the regular students and also for the underprivileged.
The SVP of Apple’s Internet Software and Services, Eddy Cue said in a statement, “It’s an honor to be in Mumbai and I am humbled to be in the presence of the talented A.R. Rahman to make this announcement together. Apple Music and the KM Music Conservatory share a deep love in discovering, sharing and nurturing musical talent and we’re proud to be supporting such an institution that is investing in the future arts and music community.”
A. R. Rahman who himself claims to be a long-time Logic Pro User added saying, “Music is a healer for today’s world and we share the same affinity and love of music with Apple Music. The labs and scholarships at KMMC make an invaluable contribution to helping to develop the talents of tomorrow’s musicians and composers. For over 20 years, I’ve been a loyal Logic Pro user and am excited to be on this journey together with Apple.”
Rahman is the founder of the KM Music Conservatory which was first started in the year 2008 in Arumbakkam, Chennai. The courses offered in KMMC include both full-time and part-time courses in Western Classical Music and Hindustani Classical Music. Along with this, those who want to opt for a 2-year diploma course are also eligible for the third year at Middlesex University, London for completing the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Music.
