Apple has launched updated versions of iPads- iPad mini and iPad Air, after years of dormancy in this domain. Both the products come in two storage variants, 64 GB and 256 GB, iPad mini is priced at ₹ 34,900 for the Wi-Fi model and ₹ 45,900 for the Wi-Fi plus cellular model whereas iPad Air priced at ₹ 44,900 onwards for the Wi-Fi mode land ₹ 55,900 onwards for Wi-Fi plus cellular model. Both of the new iPads run on the new A12 Bionic chipset that power the latest generation of the iPhones such as – iPhone XS.
The products will be launched in India in the third wave, however no specific date has been mentioned officially all that Apple says in this regard, is “soon”. The products have already been made available to order from apple.com and in the Apple Store app in a few countries including Australia, Belgium, Canada, Switzerland, the UAE, UK and US.
The iPad mini comes with a 7.9-inch Retina display with True Tone technology, weighing 300 grams, it is likely to be light and thin. iPad Air offers a screen size of 10.5-inch and weighs 456 grams. The iPad Air is compatible with Smart Keyboard, unlike iPad mini, which is available separately for purchase at Rs 13,900, with layouts of over 30 languages, including simplified Chinese, French, German, Japanese and Spanish. Both the iPads are compatible with first-generation Apple Pencil, which is available at Rs 8500. Both the iPads sport the same camera specifications – a single 8-megapixel rear (f/2.4 aperture) and a 7-megapixel front camera (f/2.2 aperture).
Both iPads offer eSIM support, via which users can connect to wireless data plans in more than 180 countries, as claimed by Apple.
Apple has also launched Polyurethane Smart Covers for both the iPads, available at ₹ 3500 and ₹ 3700 for iPad mini and iPad Air, respectively. The shades available are Charcoal Grey, Pink Sand, Papaya and White.
