Apple has hosted its most important event today at Steve Jobs Theater. This was the first keynote organized in the Steve Jobs Theater at new Apple Park Headquarters. The theater can accommodate up to 1,000 people at once. Inside the theater itself, there are lots of innovative Apple design including glass elevator that rotates as it descends so the door is always facing the right way and beautiful views across towards the visitor center and surrounding parklands. At Steve Jobs Theater, Apple has unveiled the new Apple Watch Series 3 models with LTE connectivity, a new Apple TV with 4K video, iPhone 8 & 8 Plus and the iPhone X(10).
Apple Watch Series 3
Apple’s Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams took to the stage and unveiled the new Apple Watch that includes built-in cellular connectivity in similar form-factor over the previous generation. The new Apple Watch Series 3 follows the same general design scheme as its predecessors but is marked off by a bold red top to its digital crown. The design challenge Apple faced with the Series 3 was integrating a power-hungry LTE radio and antenna inside the device, with a large enough battery to power them, while still maintaining the slim profile. Apple integrated cellular antennas into the display and electronic SIM instead of a physical SIM card. Wireless cellular connectivity provided by a built-in chip means the new Apple Watch will be able to stay connected even when it’s not tethered to an iPhone, which is a huge step forward in terms of making it an independent mobile device. The new Watch runs the latest watchOS 4 operating system. Apple is also improving the heart rate app for Watch software with new features, including a heart rate complication for the main watch face, new measurements, including resting heart rate and a recovering heart rate that shows how fast your rate drops after you complete a workout. The new Apple Watch Series 3 comes with several new hardware and software updates, so it is worth upgrading to new watch from Apple over its predecessors.
Apple has announced the new Apple TV set-top box, which is now capable of playing movies at 4K Ultra HD resolution. In addition to 4K UHD, Apple is also implemented HDR with support for both Dolby Vision and HDR10. These high dynamic range technologies allow for brighter highlights and an expanded range of colors on television sets that also have HDR. Apple is also working with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video to add support by later this year. The new Apple TV is powered by the A10X Fusion chip, the same one in the iPad Pro. It provides four times the graphics capability. TV box runs tvOS 11, the latest version of the Apple TV software. The new operating system includes an automatically switching dark and night mode, and support for AirPlay 2 and AirPods. The latest Apple TV will be available on September 22nd for $179(₹13000 approx) with 32GB of internal storage or $199(₹14000 approx) with 64GB. Preorders start September 15th. If you currently own a 4K TV and you are bonded with Apple ecosystem, then the Apple 4K TV would be the preferred choice.
Apple iPhone 8 & 8 Plus
Apple has launched the iPhone 8 & 8 Plus, which are updated versions of last year’s iPhone 7 and 7 Plus models featuring with faster processors, wireless charging, updated cameras and a slightly tweaked design. The jump from the iPhone 7 to the iPhone 8 is pretty significant, marking the first time since the iPhone 3GS was released back in 2009. While the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus were crafted entirely out of aluminum, the chassis of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus consists of two pieces of glass sandwiched between an aluminum mid-frame. The iPhone 8 has a 4.7-inch ‘Retina’ display. The iPhone 8 Plus, on the other hand, comes with a larger 5.5-inch panel. Both smartphones offer a TrueTone display and 3D Touch. Both the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus comes with the newer A11 Bionic chip, which consists of six cores — four low-efficiency and two high-performance. Even Apple claims the A11 Bionic is the smartest chip ever in a smartphone. While the iPhone 8 comes with an all new 12MP sensor, the iPhone 8 plus comes with a dual camera setup at the rear with two 12MP sensors with apertures of f/1.8 and f/2.8. Both the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will be available in two configurations – a 64GB variant and a 256GB variant. The iPhone 8 will start at $699(₹45000 approx) while the iPhone 8 Plus will start at $799(₹52000 approx). Considering the price and upgrades the device has to offer, it worth considering if you like to have wireless charging and improved design.
Apple iPhone X(10)
Well, iPhone X which is also known as iPhone 10 was the most anticipated product at the launch event. The iPhone X(10) is an extremely beautiful device, with a stainless steel band on the side and glass back curving into a 5.8-inch OLED display that stretches all the way across the front of the phone. The screen on the iPhone X(10) is about the size of the iPhone 7 plus. It also features rich bright colors thanks to the OLED display and Apple calls this a “Super Retina Display” with 1125 x 2436 pixels of resolution, making it the highest-density screen on any iPhone. The iPhone X has to dump touch ID due to the integrate bezel-less display, but it adds the new 3D face-scanner to unlock the phone. The lack of a home button does lead to change in interface and you’ll have to learn to get used to it. That front camera offers the whole bunch of new features, including newly animated emoji that react to your face and some extremely impressive new filters in Snapchat. The rear camera on the iPhone X offers dual lens, with a f/2.4 telephoto lens and the f/1.4 wide angle camera with OIS. The iPhone X will be available in space gray and silver. 64GB and 256GB models will be available, starting from $999(₹65000 approx). Orders start from October 27th and shipments start by November 3. Yes this is the most expensive iPhone ever.
