In case you are an iPhone 8 user, and if your iPhone suddenly freezes or your iPhone won’t turn on, then you are mostly amongst those users whose have ended up with a device with a defective logic board.According to Apple in their official statement,”a very small percentage” of iPhone 8 models are affected. The idea was put forward when the previous infamous MacBook Butterfly keyboard debacle took place.
Apple stated that the devices sold in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macau, New Zealand, and the U.S between the time span of September 2017 and March 2018 were affected. In order to make up to its customers, Apple will offer free service to repair the damage. In order to avail the free service, users are requested to enter the serial number of their device and check if it is eligible for the free repair service.
But there is a catch here too for iPhone 8 owners. Apple stated,”If your iPhone 8 has any damage which impairs the ability to complete the repair, such as a cracked screen, that issue will need to be resolved prior to the service. In some cases, there may be a cost associated with the additional repair.”
Users can put in their serial number here and check if their iPhones are eligible for free repair service or not. But if your device is externally damaged, then Apple will charge you for it(which is mostly never cheap) Hence it is advisable to repair the damaged screen or any other damage before submitting it to the Apple service centre.
