Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Redmi 5 Plus users will soon receive Android 8.1 Oreo update via over-the-air updates. According to a report by XDA Developers, the recovery ROM version 184.108.40.206.0 of MIUI is available for download, and the same will soon rollout for all devices.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro launched with Android Nougat out-of-the-box and received the stable Oreo update in June 2018. Redmi Note 5 users will finally receive the updates after months of waiting.
Xiaomi’s MIUI 10 is based on Android 8.1 Oreo and brings new features like a refreshed card layout for all recent apps opened, new system sounds and also bringing portrait mode to Xiaomi smartphones with a single primary camera on the back. Xiaomi has ensured in the past that their older devices too get the latest MIUI version. The rollout does take time to finally reach every user as it is tested extensively. Xiaomi’s fans are eager to enrol in the beta testing to fix out bugs and improve performance.
Users can wait for the direct OTA update notification to arrive on their phones instead of updating the OS by downloading the recovery ROM.
According to The Mobile Indian, some users have complained about several bugs since the latest updates. After updating to version 220.127.116.11.0, the camera app has been facing problems wherein it freezes while a photo is saving. Audio recording has also taken a hit after the latest update.
